Terms of use
Vigente desde el 17 de octubre de 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Sugar (“we,” “us”) about the Sugar app for iPhone and iPad (the “App”) and the website at meetsugar.app (the “Site”). By installing, setting up or using the App, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. Who may set up the App
The App must be set up by a parent or legal guardian who is at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where they live. Children may use the App only after a parent or guardian has set it up and agreed to these terms for them. You are responsible for how the App is used on your devices, including by your child.
2. What the App does
The App lets a child ask questions by typing or by talking and shows answers written by an AI model, adjusted to the age level you choose. Answers are checked by a separate safety model before they are shown. Our privacy policy explains how information is handled.
3. AI answers have limits
- Answers are produced by AI and can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. They are for general learning and curiosity only.
- The App does not give medical, legal, safety, mental-health or emergency advice. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
- Our safety measures reduce the chance that your child sees unsuitable content, but no filter is perfect and we do not guarantee that every answer will be suitable for your child.
- The App is not a substitute for supervision. Stay involved in your child’s use of it, especially with younger children.
4. OpenRouter and other services
The App uses OpenRouter, a service run by OpenRouter, Inc., to reach AI models made by other companies. To use the App, you need your own OpenRouter account and key. Your use of OpenRouter, and any charges for it, are governed by OpenRouter’s terms and are between you and OpenRouter. We do not control OpenRouter or the model providers, are not responsible for their services, availability or charges, and cannot refund them. You are responsible for keeping your key secret and for usage made with it. You can set spending limits in your OpenRouter account.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the App to break any law or to harm anyone;
- try to get around the App’s safety measures, passcode or age levels;
- copy, modify, reverse engineer or resell the App, except where the law allows it despite this restriction; or
- interfere with the Site or the services the App relies on.
6. Ownership
We own the App, the Site, the Sugar name and character, and their content, except material that belongs to others. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on Apple devices you own or control, as allowed by the App Store’s Usage Rules. Questions your child asks are yours. Answers are generated by third-party AI models and are provided to you for personal, non-commercial use.
7. Apple
If you got the App from Apple’s App Store, you also agree that:
- these terms are between you and us, not Apple, and we, not Apple, are responsible for the App and its content;
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App;
- if the App fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any; to the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the App;
- Apple is not responsible for any claims relating to the App, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, consumer protection claims, or claims that it infringes someone else’s intellectual property;
- you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a “terrorist supporting” country, and you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties; and
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
8. Disclaimer
To the fullest extent the law allows, the App and the Site are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not promise that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that answers will be accurate or suitable.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from or related to the App, the Site, AI answers, or services provided by others, including OpenRouter and model providers. Our total liability for any claim relating to the App or the Site will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the App in the 12 months before the claim, or US$50. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
10. Ending use
You can stop using the App at any time by deleting it. We may stop offering the App or the Site, or end your license if you break these terms. Sections 3, 4, 6, 8, 9 and 12 continue after your use ends.
11. Changes
We may update these terms. We will post the new version on this page and update the effective date. If you keep using the App after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms.
12. General
If any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest stays in effect. If we do not enforce a term, we have not waived it. You may not transfer these terms; we may transfer them to a successor. These terms, with the privacy policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about the App and the Site.
